Established in 2015 April,GWFM is an autonomous, not-for-profit professionally managed organization, playing an Evangelist role in grooming Leaders for Future.
Since 1993, the FOM has been offering study courses for working people and apprentices and is today Germany’s largest private university with more than 50,000 students. The FOM is represented by university centres in 29 cities in Germany and in Vienna. Teaching focuses on practice-oriented Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs, which are designed to be completed in parallel with an occupational activity or training. Founded on the initiative of
the non-profit foundation Bildungs Centrum der Wirtschaft, the state-recognized FOM Hochschule is headquartered in Essen. The university is supervised by the Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia.
HACKATHON ON INNOVATIVE IDEAS
In a world of disruption, dynamism and detonation the organization yearn to remain agile lean and innovative and it is only possible through a creative and thinking out of box workforce. The new millennial always responds to new format which makes them expand their limits and boundaries of thought process and come up with innovative practises.
Hackathon is a hyper stimulating format to make people stretch their thought processes. It can be said to be a platform for creative problem solving, where the element of fun and positive competitiveness facilitates the process of community learning.
Hackathon gives people the freedom to forget about everyday responsibilities and restrictions and build something innovative. Teams collaborate to develop a proposal,build a prototype, and pitch ideas to senior management to win recognition.
Over 80% of Fortune 100 companies conduct Hackathon to drive innovation. More than 50% of the Hackathon are recurring events, indicating that they are a reliable tool for sustained innovation. Companies such as Google, Whirlpool, Walmart, Thoughtworks,Infosys and Facebook hold internal Hackathon to encourage new product innovation by their employees. Many a breakthrough have been made through for example, the Like button, chat button, and timeline of Facebook was created during an internal Hackathon
SBS HACKATHON will see 100+ students and Industry professionals as mentors – eager to explore ways to improve business processes. It will feature teams coming in group of 5 – 7 and through a well-defined, rigorous process will try to tackle industry related issues. Several corporate mentors will coach them through the process.
The Business Hackathon is a full day event where students from different disciplines will work together to improve and create new Business solution for the business problems. The industries are changing year on year, where 75% of problems remains unsolved hence they fail in the market. In this Hackathon, the Students will experience what it
is like to work in a fast-paced, agile work environment. At the same time, they also will have the better understanding of critical areas and priorities of business to develop the best solutions.
The SBS Hackathon on Innovative Ideas will provide a platform to the budding professionals of tomorrow. Most of all, the SBS Hackathon is a unique professional event, where people share their knowledge and passion for business management and in an intense journey of “re-imagining, re-inventing and re-designing business management”. The event combines issues from the real time situations in form of a Hackathon. The concept Hackathon originally stems from the area of rapid softwaredevelopment. SBS has transferred the speed of hacking and its focus on real solutions to the business world. No need to apply any IT but pencils, paper and sticky notes, instead.
Hackathons are for everyone and anyone. Got a problem that’s begging for solutions? Set aside a half-day, a day to brainstorm ideas, build prototypes, break and build again, and you have yourself a Hackathon!
Value Added Workshop:
As a preparatory forum to all the enthusiastic mentors and the participants of the SBS Hackathon`19 a Design Thinking Workshop will be held on 27th September`2019. The workshop aims to give insight into the process of Design Thinking and it`s applicability during the Hackathon.
Who can Participate?
- Undergraduate and Post Graduate students from any discipline
- Young, enthusiastic professional with creative mind-set
- The students should participate in a team of 5-7 members including Mentor
(Mentor can be from Industry or Academics. Mentor is a support, a beckoning light
to the team whenever they require their inputs.)

Guideline for Participants or Hackers:
1. Understand the Design Thinking Process, ask questions if required
2. Be prepared before you attend the Hackathon
3. Pick your team members who you are comfortable with.
4. Do not copy other team’s model or ideas
5. Get the original ideas, avoid copy paste from the internet.
6. Try using challenging business problem and offer solutions
7. The problem and its solution offered must be realistic and implementable.
8. Connect your interest area and passion into the project
9. Be enthusiastic about your participation and learning
10. Do not say I can’t do this work and do not leave in half way Hackathon
11. Take the mentor’s help whenever required , ASK questions without any hesitation
12. Seek mentor’s support after every stage of project completion
13. Elevator pitch presentation for 5 to 7 min should go through Rehearsal at least 2-3
times
14. Present your final product or solutions confidently and effectively.
15. In case of any changes in the membership of teams must be immediately
communicated to the organizer. If no changes are communicated, the team
registered will be considered for all purposes.
16. Selection of the winner will be done by Expert judges and the decision will be
considered final
